Global tech giant Apple has finally announced a special event to launch the much-awaited iPhone 16 series. The event will be held on September 9 at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in California, United States, at 10.30 pm (IST)

Speculations are rife that Apple will unveil four new iPhone 16 models: the standard iPhone 16, the larger iPhone 16 Plus, and the high-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

“Apple has scheduled an unusual and mandatory meeting for employees at all Apple retail stores for the evening of Sept 12 or morning of Sept 13. This would be ahead of the iPhone 16 release a week later — but pre launch meetings are typically held on Sundays not during the week,” Mark Gurman, Chief Correspondent for Bloomberg, wrote in a post on Twitter confirming the development.

““Though the timing hasn’t yet been announced, the company is making preparations for that date, which falls on a Tuesday, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private. The unveiling will be followed by the phones going on sale Sept. 20, in line with Apple’s typical approach in recent years,” he added.

According to MacRumors, the latest iPhone 16 series is expected to feature subtle upgrades, including: Slightly larger displays for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, introduction of an action button, a redesigned camera bump for the non-Pro models and faster processors across the board.

These enhancements suggest a refinement of the current iPhone design, with a focus on incremental improvements rather than revolutionary changes. Apple’s upcoming event called “It’s Glowtime” is also expected to showcase a range of new products, including the three latest Apple Watch models: the Watch Series 10, boasting cutting-edge features; the Watch Ultra 3, designed for extreme sports enthusiasts; and the Apple Watch SE, a budget-friendly option.

Some reports have claimed that the new iPhone16 may also have a new Capture button to instantly shoot images or record videos. The entire iPhone16 series is expected to get A18 chipset. However, the pricing for the iPhone 16 range is not yet known.

Audio upgrades that are expected are second-generation AirPods Max, promising enhanced sound quality, and two new AirPod models, offering improved performance and design. Meanwhile, the expected software updates include the announcement of the iOS 18 release date.

Apple’s exceedingly anticipated special occasion is just around the corner, and the world can hardly wait. It will livestream the event on its website, YouTube and TV app.
