New Delhi: redRail, the train ticketing app by redBus, India’s intercity bus ticketing application, has launched its iOS app, enabling iPhone users to book train tickets.

The new iOS app is lite and complements the existing train ticketing experience available on the redBus iOS app by improving user experience in non-metro regions or in places with limited internet bandwidth.

The redRail Android app was launched in early 2022.

An IRCTC-authorized partner, redRail by redBus offers confirmed train bookings, alongside other user conveniences such as PNR status updates, train schedule feature – for checking the schedule of any train and the train’s live location- to rid travellers of anxieties associated with boarding the train.

The latest addition to the list of services has been, the launch of ‘Confirmation Probability’, which will help travellers know the chances of confirmation of a waitlisted ticket at the time of booking itself, enabling them to make informed decisions based on the probability of the ticket getting confirmed. For instance, a waitlisted ticket with a confirmation probability of more than 75%, has a high chance of confirmation. The Confirmation Probability in redRail is derived through complex data science algorithms utilizing previous trends and train/route-specific characteristics among others.

In addition to the ‘Confirmation Probability’ feature, redRail by redBus has also introduced a special feature called, redRail Confirm. This feature uses advanced algorithms to identify available confirmed seats in the same train from other stations. Users can book these seats instantly and board / alight at their desired stations with a route extension. This helps them to book confirmed seats on an otherwise waitlisted train.

According to an estimate, about 1.6 crore waitlisted passengers are unable to travel each year by trains due to the waitlist not getting confirmed. redRail Confirm will aid such passengers book confirmed seats through the use of advanced algorithms to identify available confirmed seats on other trains plying on the same route, at no additional cost.
